Exhibition Opening: Old Spanish Trail: Conduit of Change

Called "the longest, crookedest, most arduous pack mule train in the history of America" by Colorado historian Leroy R. Hafen, the Old Spanish Trail is both one of the nation’s least known trails but one of the most important pack mule trading trails in this region.
This exhibition, opening on May 25, traces the trail’s history through illustrated wall panels and many artifacts.

The Annual Palace of the Governors Gem and Mineral Show takes place on June 20, 21, 22, 2008 from 10 AM - 4 PM.
The Gem and Mineral Show takes place in the historic courtyard of the 400-year-old Palace of the Governors Located in the historic courtyard of the 400-year-old Palace of the Governors building in downtown Santa Fe on the Plaza, the Gem and Mineral Show is a visual and tactile delight for adults and children alike.
This annual show features only authentic, natural gems and minerals traditionally used in Southwest jewelry making.
The show, in conjunction with the Palace of the Governors Native American Artisan Program, provides an opportunity for gem and mineral dealers and Native American Artisans to tell their unique stories about the historical relationships that have existed between Native silversmiths and jewelers, miners and gem and mineral traders.
Additional programming includes guest speaker presentations on relevant topics of interest as well as a special program for children.

The Annual Native American Artisans Program's Indian Market Celebration in the Courtyard takes place on Santa Fe's Indian Market Weekend on August 23 and 24, 2008.
During this weekend the Palace of the Governors signature Native American Artisans Program moves inside the Palace's historic courtyard for the world-famous Southwest Indian Arts Festival weekend in downtown Santa Fe.
The event features over 65 artisans from New Mexico's 23 tribes and Pueblos exclusively. The New Mexico Native artisans will exhibit and sell their traditional arts and crafts items inside the beautifully landscaped, tree-shaded, enclosed Palace of the Governors garden in downtown Santa Fe on the Plaza.
Additional programming will include traditional Indian dances, music, performances, art demonstrations, raffles and a Native specialties food booth.
An exceptional, thrilling experience for young and old alike!
